George Gently has contributed to our forum with a slam story. Have a look under "Wednesday 20 July".

We have a new contributor to our forum. Check out Frank's column under the heading Wednesday 13 July on the right.

This is a reminder to all members. As you know, we are a not for profit organisation, run entirely be volunteers & directors who are paid to direct.
We rely on the goodwill of our members to assist in the smooth running of the club by tidying up your table at the end of the day & occasionally taking responsibility for cleaning the kitchen.

Sadly, Mickey Kaplan passed away last week. Her memorial service was on Friday. She was only a member at the club for a few years. Thanks to Peter's efforts in transporting her to and from the club, she was able to play on Mondays.

The winners of this event were Carol Sheldrake & Kathie De Palo.

The runners up were:
2nd - Susan Spinks & Anthony Curtin (there's no holding these two back at the moment!)
3rd - Lyn Mallesch & Joseph So.

Thanks to all participants for making this a successful event & a special thank you to our director, Peter.

Susan Spinks & Anthony Curtin have qualified first in the recent Tuesday night State Open Pairs qualifying event. Congratulations to Susan & Anthony.
Runners up were:
2nd - Teresa Wilson & Ian Jamieson
3rd - Debbie Rose & Eva Veress.
Thank you to all the competitors who made the event an enjoyable one. Thank you, also, to our director, Charles Klassen.

Eddie the Eagle Eyed

We have a new forum topic posted on the right.
Eddie notes that players are still not providing opponents with the opportunity to look at their system card. We would reiterate that it really is a useful exercise to sit down with you regular partner(s) & write one out. Then, of course, you need to remember to bring it to each game!
Eddie also provides another hand which is worth a look.

In case you haven't heard, Elizabeth Morgan died last week after a short illness. Her memorial service was last Friday. She was certainly a lovely woman. We'll miss her.

Tuesday Supervised

The Tuesday supervised session is back!
If you're looking for an opportunity to play in a non competitive environment & one in which help is available with those tricky situations which arise all too frequently in this frustrating game of ours, please come. The session will run from 4.30-6.30 in the big room & will be supervised by Di Connors, ably assisted by Keith Van Klink.

Friday Teams Results

Congratulations (albeit somewhat belatedly) to the winning team of Parveen & Jamal Rayani, Faye Morris & David Mahadavan.

Runners up were:
2nd - Margaret Driscoll, Philip Moroney, Mike Bush & Kathie De Palo
3rd - Betty Priestley, Peter Shea, Tim Cregan & Richard Sheldrake

Thank you to all participants, particularly those who made the event viable by making themselves available on a day on which they would not normally play.
