Bil Blogs

Our very modest Bil has added another post. Have a look on the right.

Our hero!

The Peter Gill - Andrew Peake - Sartaj Hans - Tony Nunn - Bill Jacobs - Ben Thompson team today won the Australian Trials and will be representing Australia overseas this year. What is a remarkable achievement!

Can you give a fellow bridge player a lift?

We have a number of members who are unable to get themselves to Henley. If you would be willing to give someone a lift occasionally, please let us hear from you. We can give you a choice of areas if you feel you could help. Call Linda 0410 785 202 or e-mail us at

Bil Blogs

The committee is delighted to introduce Bil Blogs, our local commentator, who will provide discussion on club tidbits & interesting hands.
Bil's forum can be found on the right of this page under Forums (surprisingly) & by clicking on the relevant date.
Bil describes himself as "a member who likes to reserve his doubles for careless bidders". He warns that players should "beware".

Vale Merche Magee

Merche passed away last Sunday. She was having trouble breathing before Christmas and very quickly had to be moved to an aged care facility. She died only weeks later from a recurring illness. Her memorial service will be held at Macquarie Park Cemetery & Crematorium (Camellia Chapel) on Wednesday, 3 February at 2:30 pm. We'll miss her.

A Tribute to John Wagner from Peter

We had a nice showing of club members at John’s funeral today.

Here are a few stories that show the great character that made John one of the most admired members of our bridge club.

One member says that John may be the only player who has never lost his cool and 100% always retained his calm and collected demeanour when playing bridge. We all know how bridge can lead to heated situations, but John never succumbed.

Vale John Wagner

John Wagner has passed away peacefully after a long illness. John was a member of the Hunters Hill Bridge Club for many, many years - he certainly loved his bridge. He was a Life Member, having been the Treasurer for a very long time in the early days and the Auditor in more recent years. We have been missing him at the table for some time now. His memorial service will be at All Saints Church, Ferry Street, Hunters Hill on Tuesday, 19 January at 10:30 a.m.
