VALE Michael Stacey

It is with great sadness that we inform Club members of the passing of Michael Stacey on Wednesday last week.
Michael endured, with great spirit & good humour, a difficult & prolonged period of illness over the last few years. He was a true gentleman who, at all times, maintained an incredibly positive attitude & approach to life.
Michael joined the Club four years ago & with his usual partner, Iain Clarke, and sometimes with Di, was a keen & regular Monday & Wednesday player who thoroughly enjoyed the challenge that bridge provided. In 2015, along with Iain, he was a member of the winning Novice Team at the Hunters Hill Bridge Congress.
Michael was also a very competitive golfer. He continued to play golf until earlier this year & even on some of the hottest days, was out on the course.
Michael was a Yorkshireman who trained as an engineer in the UK. He developed expertise in the design & construction of power stations & his technological knowledge in this field was recognised internationally. Michael, with Di & their children, Kathryn & Even, spent a prolonged period in South Africa where he designed & constructed new power stations to upgrade that nation's energy network. As well, he spent time in New Caledonia & the Hunter Valley of NSW.
Michael's funeral service will be held at the Northern Suburbs Memorial Gardens & Crematorium, South Chapel, 199 Delhi Rd, North Ryde, on Tuesday 27 June at noon.
On behalf of all Club members, we extend our sincere sympathies to Di, Kathryn & Evan & their partners, for the loss of a true gentleman.
